The USYVL volunteer position of Coach is responsible for helping players develop a positive image of themselves, their teammates, coaches, game officials, and opponents. Additionally, they will be a good role model for the players, while teaching the proper volleyball skills as recommended in the USYVL coaching manual.

Coaches run practices and games under the direction of the Clinician (Site Volleyball Instructor). No previous experience is needed. Coaching clinics occur before each season and USYVL provides coaches with a curriculum manual.

Time Commitment: The estimated hours to fulfill coaching duties, is 3-4 hours per week. The anticipated time commitment for Coaching is an eight week season.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

The Coach is expected to:

1) Complete a Volunteer Application and submit to the Site Director.
2) Attend the coaching clinic for training.
3) Arrive 20-30 min early to set up nets and review the days curriculum.
4) Monitor practices & attend regular game days & inter-site games.
5) Support the Site Director.
6) Cooperate with the Clinician on all coaching matters.
7) Have FUN!

Qualifications and Desired Skills

1) Be reliable.
2) Be able to give clear instructions.
3) Submit a volunteer form for USYVL to conduct a background check.

Player Allowance

A head coach, and only a head coach, is allowed to request one player on his team in addition to his own child(ren).
